After very little searching around, I found out that the plural usage for ibis can be a few different words. There’s no wrong answer almost. I’m going with the one I think sounds best. Here, we see a trio of ibis (collective plural) making their way across a brick street in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Continue reading “6/7/18”

I don’t know, this tree looked like an octopus close up, or Shiva. I took a slightly different route walking Griffy today and saw it on the way back home.

No Jesse today, his plumbing exploded in one of the bathrooms yesterday and he had to bust up all the tile and fix it, then replace all the tile. That’s the good thing about renting, no need to fix stuff when it breaks. I wouldn’t even know where to begin, though. More power to him.

I ran 6 miles today at 8:00 pace and I worked hard for it. Continue reading “6/6/18”

I have thousands of photos on my phone just sitting there taking up space. Every now and again, I look through them and enjoy remembering the time that they came from and what the mood was like. I can’t bring myself to delete even the most inconsequential-seeming photos because one day I might look back and that photo might spark a memory or thought I don’t expect. Continue reading “6/5/18”

Good run today to end the week. I took the Skyway Trail offshoot down to the Maximo area instead of staying on the Pinellas Trail. 10 miles at 10:55 pace. Super crampy right now so I’m drinking Gatorade and trying not to move too much once I find a posture that doesn’t make me convulse and contort.

Clam Bayou has some good old Florida scenery.

Busy day today. Will write more tomorrow – will take a look back on this week and look ahead to next week.

After some food, water, and soda, I almost feel like a person again. Today’s run was 24 miles in the hot, humid heat. If that fence in the photo wasn’t there, I might have jumped into the water. The idea was that having the fence partially in the photo would be cool, but the effect is not quite what I thought it would be. I took another photo where I placed the focus on the fence itself, but that worked even less. Who cares, honestly. Continue reading “6/2/18”

A bunch of stuff happened today, some of it good and some of it frustrating, and so I’m in this kind of seesaw mode. It’s crazy when I think about it – I know everything is going to be just fine, but I feel uneasy and apprehensive nonetheless. And I know some of the things I’m worried about wouldn’t worry anyone else. But that’s okay because anyone else probably worries about altogether different and unrelated things. So I shouldn’t worry about what other people worry about. I can only worry about me and my worries. It’s my birthday, by the way. Continue reading “6/1/18”

The photos don’t always have to do with running. In fact, they almost never have anything to do with running.

I woke up early this morning to take my car to the shop, again. They didn’t fix what they said they fixed. It’s almost like they did absolutely nothing because the same exact thing happened again. When it rains, the floorboards (not sure that’s the right terminology) under the driver and passenger seat get wet. Wet enough to saturate the carpet. It’s pretty awful when it rains for an extended period of time, because I can’t open the windows to air it out, otherwise the rest of the interior would get wet, too. It gets to smelling like mildew. The mechanic’s explanation, which checks out on Google, is that the sunroof/air conditioning drains are clogged. This is not an intuitive thing. Of course, just when my car seems to be trouble-free, a non-mechanical issue arises. A smelly non-mechanical issue. Honda Problems. Continue reading “5/31/18”

At this point, I no longer need to say it was raining. It can just be assumed that it is always raining whenever I run now. I waited around – actually just sat there on the couch – and it wouldn’t slow down so I just had to go out in the middle of the deluge. I love running in the rain, but it’s a more romantic occasion when in begins to rain in the middle of a run. Starting a run in the rain is like, well, it’s not the same is all I can say. It feels soggy. Continue reading “5/30/18”

I skipped writing an entry yesterday because Dana arrived back home from a wedding in Indiana. Sometimes there are more important things than journal entries.

Look at those tiny match sticks in that petal. I Google imaged magnolia flower and I guess it’s common for those things to pile up inside the flower like that.

Today I had an excellent run. 14 miles at 10:00 pace, even. Continue reading “5/29/18”
